The practices of Equanimity

It’s Marcellus Knicely here. I just wanted to share my thoughts and practical lesson I’m learning currently through the practices of accepting things for the way they are. For example, I am a ENGLISH teacher that have taught all over the country. So, in 2016 I decided to advance my searches to teaching in a different country. I decided to find a recruiter to be able to help me interview for quality jobs out there since I read about different scams and such that may go on internationally.

I was able to find a seemingly great recruiter and by June 2016, I was preparing to go teach in China in August. However, things didn’t work out as planned. I had a last minute conversation with my manager about how the students may actually cry from seeing my Dark Skin.

Well safe to say, I decided to turn the job down and figured I’d just cut my losses and move on with my life.

However, I felt a burning desire to finish the thing I couldn’t finish in 2016. I mean going to China on your own accord and not the military or any other support system was a big deal for me.

Especially, since I’m a guy who grew up in a small town in the south.

So I got in contact with my recruiter again and asked him could we try again. He was thrilled and apologized to me for the schools manager comment.

It didn’t take no time for me to find a school to accept me. So I felt to myself, “man this already feels easier!”

I decided to go with one of the five schools that accepted me in 2016. Although I’ve gotten farther along than I did in the process of going to China, I’m starting to feel that it may not happen yet again.

But after I’ve done some reading and meditation, EQUANIMITY as a concept Came to me. I realized that either way, I’ll be fine, because that’s what it does. It brings you calm and just acceptance of “bad” or negative energy. So here I am , just saying that no matter what you are going through, remember there’s always choices and to just accept things for the way they “Are” and know that everything is constantly changing.

The Universe has given us tools of divinity to handle moments just like these. Positivity energy is the way to go. Negative energy will just eat away at you or just fester resulting to bitterness and resentment. I am however, not saying I’m going to give up on world traveling, because I know I WILL succeed, Just like you! So don’t forget to spread your light and positive energy.
